HeadLamp, based in Helena, Montana (of all places), is a small startup focusing on cognitive behavioral therapies, meditation (mindfulness), and thought hacking to help people cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. Their app, which is still in development, will give users access to streamlined cognitive behavioral therapies and innovative thought hacking techniques.

The founder of HeadLamp claims, “HeadLamp will enable users to take note of their thoughts, get off autopilot, and redefine their thinking.”

This app is exciting. Cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) have long been viewed as one of the most effective therapies in treating anxiety and depression. This school of therapy asserts that thoughts define people’s beliefs and feelings, which in turn determine their behaviors and lifestyle. So, by recognizing thoughts and reframing them, people can change their lives for the better, because their behaviors will reflect that recognition and the new thought frame.

The problem has been that CBT often involves bulky books and thought logs. HeadLamp promises to change that by giving users access to CBT and thought hacking techniques right there on their phone.

HeadLamp is currently raising money through an IndieGoGO campaign, but you can stay up to date on the app’s progress on the startup’s website: YourHeadLamp.com
