Apple iPhone 4 UK Price – How Much Will It Cost You?

June 9th, 2010

We figured that the Apple iPhone 4 would be good, but we weren’t certain just how good until its announcement earlier this week. With a stunningly high-res screen, contemporary design and glass build, the Apple iPhone 4 is looking like THE phone to have in 2010, but how much would you be willing to pay? Join us after the break to find out more…

Everything about the Apple iPhone 4 screams high quality, from the glass and stainless steel construction, to the 3.5-inch screen with a groundbreaking 960 x 640-pixel resolution. As with previous Apple iPhone products, the Apple iPhone 4 is likely to sit at the very top of the smartphone range in terms of price, but just how much are you willing to pay?

With the Apple iPhone 3GS, UK prices for the handset closely mirrored those of the US, costing between £185 and £275 plus contract depending on whether you opted for the 16GB or 32GB model. With longer contracts, it was also possible to get the Apple iPhone 3GS for free, although it worked out very expensive in the long run.

Find out everything you need to know about the Apple iPhone 4

Current US prices for the Apple iPhone 4 cost $199 and $299 before taxes, so it’s likely that the Apple iPhone 4 will cost a similar amount to the previous generation model when launched in the UK, at least when bought on contract.

What about Pay as You Go? Unfortunately Apple has yet to release any details on PaYG pricing, but you can expect to add at least several hundred pounds on top of the initial contract price, with the 16GB Apple iPhone 4 expected to cost around the £500 mark – as with the outgoing Apple iPhone 3GS

iPad 3G Released, Spirit Jailbreak Coming Soon

May 2nd, 2010

Today, Apple released the iPad 3G. The pricing is $629 for the 16GB, $729 for the 32GB and $829 for the 64GB. That’s $130 more than the WiFi-only model which is ridiculous. A research firm iSuppli, which did a teardown of the WiFi model, and found that the additional parts required for 3G connectivity cost an estimated $24.50. That’s Apple for you!

The Dev-Team say that they will release their untethered jailbreak which will work on all devices including the iPad soon after the iPad 3G release. Sadly the jailbreak named Spirit will not include a carrier unlock.

Quote

At some point after (don’t ask when!) the iPad 3G is actually in customers’ hands, the first “userland” jailbreak since firmware 1.x will be released by @comex.  It’s called “Spirit” and was first demonstrated working on an iPad by @MuscleNerd within 24 hours of the iPad’s release on April 3.

The Dev-team recommends you have your SHSH blobs backed up.

TC50: Job Seekers Pay LocalBacon To Apply For Jobs (And That Might Just Work)

September 15th, 2009
by Robin Wauters on September 14, 2009

As an employer, chances are you use sites like Craigslist or Monster.com to try and get the best candidates for vacant spots. If that’s indeed your modus operandi for recruitment, than you’re probably also used to receiving bad or incomplete resumes, applications from totally unqualified persons or just utter spam. LocalBacon thinks it doesn’t have to be that way, and believes the solution to the problem is making job seekers pay to apply for jobs.

Launching at the TechCrunch50 event today, LocalBacon wants to remove the clutter from the inboxes of many a manager or HR professional looking for the right person to put to work while at the same time giving job seekers the opportunity to stand out from the crowd in their quest to land a good position. The way they want to achieve that is by both increasing the quality of applications and decreasing their amount by charging potential candidates $0.99 (or more based on interest/demand) to apply.

TC50: Yext Offers Local Businesses A Smart Inbox For Phone Calls

September 15th, 2009
by Robin Wauters on September 14, 2009

Yext, a popular local business search engine that for some reason managed to stay under the radar so far, is launching a new product dubbed Yext Calls at the TechCrunch50 event today that’s bound to raise some eyebrows.

Local businesses can use the Yext Calls software to process incoming phone calls and organize them based on semantic analysis of what was said during the conversation, providing them with an easy way of searching or browsing through them at any point. Based on keywords that occurred in the call, the software can detect that e.g. price estimates were requested for a car repair or which part of what type of vehicle the caller was having problems with exactly.

The program can even automatically detect if any appointments were made during the conversation, giving the local business owner or representative an easy way of scheduling their calendar based on relevant keywords that were used during the call.

Much of all what we predicted about the new iPods in our earlier post has come out to be true, except for the rumor that claimed that iPod Touch would get a camera module.

And for the pricing, the 8GB model of the iPod Touch will now be available for only $199.

Apple slashes iPod prices up to $120

September 13th, 2009

Reading the above article, you’ll know that iPod has lowered the prices on some of their iPods and planning to add more functions to the future versions like a camera. I think it would be really cool for the iPod nano to have a camera, as well as the iPod touch.

I’m amazed by how much the prices have dropped, especially the 32 GB iPod touch reduced to $279 from $399 ($120 off). A lot of people will be able to afford these products now and parents will be able to purchase their children an iPod.

As they’re bringing out new versions of the iPods, they’ve reduced the prices. However, if you like to stay up to date with the highest technology then this doesn’t really benefit you much. If you don’t mind missing the other functions like camera, then this really should benefit you if your looking for a device to play your music on the go.
