storyRemember Little Red Riding Hood? Remember the Goldilocks and the 3 bears? Or remember the story about you that your grandmother used to tell you when you were growing up?

Why am I asking you to recall all this? To show you that stories stick. People remember stories, and people love stories.

How wonderful would it be if consumers are able to remember your brand like they remember a story, right?

Its possible. Turn your brand into a memorable story and gain lifelong customers.

Everyone is doing content marketing now, having a blog on their website. What can differentiate yours, from your competitors? What makes you stand out?

As a viewer, who should you trust?

I submit to you that consumers trust if you are transparent and open about your product, your story, and how it benefits them. When they trust you, they will be more than willing to buy from you.

And, the best way to do that, is through videos, and storytelling in videos to make sure your brand sticks.

Let me share with you the 3 main types of stories that are great for businesses we had learnt from Claritee Productions, Corporate Video Production Singapore:

Story type #1: Company story

Let your readers and potential customers know who you are; the reason for your product or service existence. Bring them through the thought processes that gave birth to your company.

By opening up the raw emotions that led to the birth of this solution, you become authentic and relatable. You can introduce your employees so that people can put a face to your company’s name. Maybe get them to share about their experience working in your company, and what makes the company tick.

Quench any of their qualms about your problem; perhaps they might be worried about certain types of chemicals in your product – then take them through your production process and show that there are no harmful chemicals involved!

Story type #2: What makes your company tick

Here are some of the questions you can answer in your video:

  1. Who does your company serve?
  2. How does it help people?
  3. Why do you care about these people?
  4. How are you different from competitors?

It’s best if you could inject humour or action into this story. This would help your video become viral.

Story type #3 – Show experiences your product makes possible:

We know you love to share about the features of your product. Yes, it is very flexible. Yes, it is multi-purpose. But more than just that, how does it benefit your consumers?

We know you love your product, but your consumers don’t… not yet. Not at least until they see how they can benefit from it. What is the result they will get by using your product?

They don’t care about how many blades your blender has, or what material is it made of. As long as it makes making smoothies fast, easy and does not damage the nutrients of the fruit.

That is why we say – show the end result, the experience of them enjoying the benefits. Such videos are very powerful when thrown into the social media world and back it up with some great social media campaign and advertising budget.

You know the best part of it all? If your brand is big enough (think Airbnb) you might be fortunate enough to have your consumers make more brand videos for you.
