we_can_blogIf you use a hosted blogging platform such as BlogSpot, WordPress, Tumblr or Blogger, you may find that once a blog is posted, you receive a couple of random likes or comments for the first few days and then the interaction just drops off altogether. Your blog post may sit in the featured or most recent blog posts of the hosted site for the first few hours in which you experience engagement before dropping off. To get your blog out there, appreciated and shared, you have to do some work to promote it. There are some easy and cost-effective ways to promote your blog.

Mention Other Websites First

Find related blogs in your niche and share something they’ve written first. Especially if it’s something that can benefit them financially like an affiliate post or a link to a product they’ve released. For instance, my friend runs a tech blog where he shares lots of great info for free but also writes articles like FatCow hosting reviews where he’s promoting web hosting platforms.

If you have referred to or linked to a website from your blog, send them an e-mail to let them know that you have done so. If a business has been referenced in a blog post in a positive way, they would be inclined to want to share them as it offers them free publicity. If they were to share your blog via a social media account of link to your blog from their site in return, it would benefit the search engine performance of your post. It would also put your blog in front of the eyes of their social media followers who may in turn visit your blog.

Forums

Search for a forum related to the topic of your blog post. Your blog post could serve as useful to members of this forum. Look for a relevant conversation to which your post may provide an answer to a question posed. This can serve as an excellent way to get your blog post seen by those interested in the topic. For example, if your blog post is about “How to Interest Your Child in Learning”, you should look for a parenting forum and share your blog in a conversation or topic surrounding topics like “Homework” or “School”.

Social Media

If you have a Twitter account, post your blog post accompanied by relevant hash tags to get it noticed and read by those interested in the subject. Do you have a Facebook account? If so, use to syndicate your blog post and take care to tag any businesses mentioned. If you have a LinkedIn account, search for and join any relevant industry groups. Share your post with the group members accompanied by a message as to the problem it could help solve, the question it could answer or the people who may be interested in it. On Google+, search for and join any relevant communities and syndicate your post in a similar means to how you did so on LinkedIn. Be sure that any accompanying messaging for any social media post differs and is tailored to the users of that platform.

E-mail Marketing

If you operate a business and have an e-mail marketing database, you could use this to syndicate your blog post. If you feel that your subscribers could benefit and find value from your post, you should consider sending an e-mail to your subscribers promoting your blog.

Even if your blog post is of high quality and offers genuine value to the reader, it can still require some promotion. The aforementioned mediums can prove very effective in attracting the attention, engagement and appreciation that you post truly deserves.
