How many times a day do you peep into your phone while working on your PC? Probably, a hundred times or more. When you are at work you will put the phone on silent mode to avoid interruptions. But what if you miss an important text message or call? DeskNotifier has come to your rescue. It enables you to see the notifications on your Windows system. It also allows you to respond to the messages instantly.

This smart app developed by XDA member greenday 123 is of great use to workaholics. Once the software is installed on the PC and the app on your phone, you can send and receive messages even if you do not have the phone with you. DeskNotifier also accepts notifications from Facebook, Viber, Gmail, WhatsApp and more.  A Wi-Fi or USB connection and an email address are mandatory to receive notifications. The DeskNotifier app will work with a majority of tablets and smartphones. Let’s discuss the two methods of installing DeskNotifier.

Method of Installation

Bluetooth Method

  1. Install the Android DeskNotifier app and run it.
  2. Download the Desktop app from the Downloads section and install it.
  3. Pair the Android device and desktop using the following method. Go to Settings click on WiFi and networks and select Bluetooth settings on Android.
  4. The Bluetooth notification has to be enabled in the Android app settings.
  5. Select “Device pairing” to open Bluetooth options on the Android phone. Select “Target device” to send notifications to your PC. If it is set as “Any Device”, the app will send notifications to the first PC found.
  6. The Bluetooth notification has to be enabled in the desktop app settings.

The DeskNotifier app will automatically run in the background, so you can exit the app.

WiFi Method

  1. Install the Android app and run it.
  2. Download the Desktop app from the Downloads section and install it.
  3. Make sure that the network on desktop and the Android device are similar.
  4. Do you have a firewall installed on your PC? If yes, check to see if it permits UDP packets into your system.
  5. Activate WiFi on the Android app setting.
  6. Click on the WiFi option and customize the following

IP address This address is where you will receive your notifications. The default address is adequate, but you can also make use of the below options.

Global broadcastthis works fine on most networks.

DHCP BroadcastThis method identifies the DHCP pattern of your WiFi network and uses it to send notifications.

Custom AddressIn this method you will have to type the specific IP address to which you like to send the notifications.

WiFi sleeping policy- This Android setting has a control over your WiFi when it is turned off. WiFi gets switched off every time the screen turns off. However, this can be customized by changing the default option to “never”.  This ensures that the notifications are delivered but consumes more battery.

Autoenable WiFi– If you like to turn on your WiFi only when notifications are sent, then customize this option. Once a notification is sent, the WiFi will turn off by default.

7.  Activate WiFi on the desktop app setting.

Now you are good to receive notifications from the DeskNotifier app. Now that you are all set, send a test message from your phone to the computer. The app does not allow the notification to stay on screen for more than a couple of seconds. If you miss the notification, you can check the details on the system tray. Make the best use of this app to enhance your lifestyle.
